Fresh Ink
Director
Fresh Ink is a new writing festival run by Middle Child Theatre in Hull. Each year, they commission several new plays to be performed script in hand to audiences with the intention of getting feedback about new work in the region. I have worked on all 3 festivals since it's inaugural one in 2024. I have become one of the directors most trusted with marginalised stories, and have worked on both larger commissions and novice writers' scripts.
Ballgames
Director
Ballgames was a new piece of writing by Aiden Thompson-Coates developed as part of a DYCP. This WIP sharing took place at Hull Truck Theatre and explored the ideas of queerness, safeguarding and responsibility. The show is currently being developed into a touring studio show and is available to book.
Brighter Still was Bradford 2025 City of Culture's finale after an epic year. We worked with over 160 community participants to stage an outdoor show in late December to celebrate the year and welcome in the new year.

Biting Point
Director of Audience Experience
Biting Point was a new touring show by Middle Child Theatre written by Sid Sagar. The show toured carparks across Yorkshire and the North East, wresting with ideas of class, race and privilege. As Director of Audience Experience I responded creatively to the wrap around experience of seeing the show, including offering audiences a curated zine, a cup of tea and created additional visual elements to compliment the stage design.
Baby, He Loves You
Assistant Director
In Spring 2024, I became a Regional Theatre Young Directors Scheme placement at Middle Child Theatre, as part of the Annie Castledine award. This meant that I had the opportunity to to Assistant Direct on a new show by Maureen Lennon called Baby, He Loves You. The show was all about female friendship, patriarchy and how far family loyalty can go. This show took place in a wedding marquee in Hull and incorporated elements of aerial hoop into the storytelling of the show.
This One's For Us
Writer
This One's For Us was created as part of a year long heritage project about the community of Gipsyville in Hull. I was the lead artist and writer on this project, alongside Dramaturg Matthew May from Middle Child, who produced the project. The show was commissioned by Absolutely Cultured, and culminated in an outdoor show that talked about the past and future of the area which took place June 2023. Beach Body Ready
Devisor/Performer
This show changed me for the better. Its a show that sticks up two fingers to everything the Media say you should look like, and in the process of making it, I've learnt so much about my own ingrained ways of thinking. Beach Body Ready is a devised show created by The Roaring Girls and friends. It was a British Council Late Recommendation and a Guardian recommended she at the Edinburgh Fringe 2019. Due to go on a 4 month tour which was cancelled due to the pandemic, it was filmed without an audience and was available summer 2021.
Hedwig and The Angry Inch

In Spring 2022, I was Assistant Director on Hedwig And The Angry Inch which opened at Leeds Playhouse and transferred to HOME in Manchester. This was my first time assisting in 10 years and it was a genuinely life changing experience to make work with an almost entirely queer team. This production has since won multiple awards, and the team continue to be close friends, which I feel is a sign that we did something right!
Writing
I've written for Middle Child Theatre as part of their Signal Fires programming, as well as being commissioned by them to write an interactive quiz.
With The Roaring Girls, as part of our Lockdown output, I wrote Murder Mysteries for 5 consecutive weeks. I have also had my work performed by Hull Truck Youth Theatre.
I was awarded a Develop Your Creative Practice grant to write my first ever musical, which is about space pirates. Its a camp, small to mid-scale show about the patriarchy, power, and of course, pirates.
Acting
As well as my work with The Roaring Girls, I've performed in the 2016 show This Might Hurt with the John Godber Theatre Company, took the role of Gerry Braithwaite in the film The Last Laugh, and have done radio drama for Silent Uproar.
